
In April 2010 following the government consultation on open data, Ordnance Survey released a subset of Code-Point® as Code-Point® Open under a royalty free licence. At the same time the government established data.gov.uk to provide access to various datasets from central departments and a number of other public sector bodies and local authorities.
BPH were one of the first solution providers to create value added products based on reformatted and enhanced public data derived from a number of different raw sources.
Postcode Grid Lat/Lon (PGLL) is a table of all current unit postcodes in England, Scotland and Wales together with their OS grid references (to 1m resolution) and Lat/Lon co-ordinates. Administrative area and ward codes are also provided along with code-to-name translation tables.
As a CSV file PGLL is easily imported to MS Access, SQL or any other database.
GazMap is a comprehensive locations gazetteer and mapping tool including public transport nodes and postcode sectors. GazMap is output as a fully formatted multi-tabbed XLS with links to Google Maps, and as a set of 3 CSV tables for clients who want to integrate with their own applications.
Both of these products are updated quarterly.
