In April 2010 following the government consultation on open
data, Ordnance Survey released a subset of Code-Point® as
Code-Point® Open under a royalty free licence.
BPH have produced a new version of our GIS Base Table + Lat/Lon
based on the OS data which is not subject to any annual Royal
Mail licence fees.
The main differences between the original GBLL table
derived from Royal Mail Postzon® and the new Code-Point® CPLL version
are;
-
Postcode areas BT (Northern Ireland), GY/JE (Channel
Islands) and IM (Isle of Man) are not present on CPLL
-
OS Grid References are to 1m resolution on CPLL (100m on
GBLL)
-
Postcode type and delivery point counts are not available on
CPLL
-
CPLL includes LA/UA District and Ward codes + a separate
look-up table of the district and ward names
-
GBLL is available on a monthly basis, CPLL will be
available quarterly
The costs of this
dataset are £170 for a single edition OR £425 for quarterly (4)
editions per annum.
**NEW**
- We can now supply
a supplementary file for the BT postcode area in the same format
as the Code Pont Lat/Long file. There will be a small additional
data charge of £50 for a single edition OR £125 for quarterly
(4) editions plus the applicable Royal Mail licence for a single
postcode area.
You can download a
sample of the data (inc a file layout) on the right of this
page. The "downloads" area also contains a sample of the LA/UA
District and Ward descriptions file and the Data Supply Terms. Below is a screen shot of the data.
